Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic therapy that supports the movement of lymph and fluid through the body. This slow, light-touch technique helps reduce swelling, ease heaviness, and encourage the natural detoxification functions of the lymphatic system. It is deeply calming, making it supportive for both physical concerns and nervous system regulation.
Kenzie is trained in Vodder-style Manual Lymphatic Drainage, the original clinical method developed by Dr. Emil Vodder. Vodder MLD uses precise hand movements, specific sequences, and very light, consistent pressure to stimulate lymphatic flow without overwhelming the tissues. It is a medically informed, subtle approach that works with the physiology of the lymphatic system in a gentle, therapeutic way.
Vodder MLD differs from Brazilian lymphatic drainage, which is often faster paced, more sculpting focused, and uses deeper pressure for immediate visible contouring.
While Brazilian techniques can create short-term shaping effects, Vodder-style MLD is designed for long-term lymphatic health, post-surgical care, swelling reduction, immune support, and overall fluid balance. It is an excellent option for clients looking for a clinical, calming approach that works safely with the body’s natural rhythms.
MLD can be helpful for post-surgical swelling, chronic puffiness or congestion, inflammatory conditions, sinus issues, immune support, and feelings of fluid retention. It is also beneficial for pre-surgical preparation, as supporting the lymphatic system before surgery may help tissues be more resilient, reduce post-operative swelling, and support recovery.
Because Vodder MLD is performed without oils or lotions, it does not pair easily with traditional massage therapy in the same session. Oil-based massage and no-oil lymphatic techniques require different pacing, contact, and tissue preparation, so combining them can reduce the effectiveness of both. For this reason, MLD is typically offered as its own focused treatment, or woven in only when appropriate areas can be worked without oil.
All MLD treatments are billed under Kenzie’s RMT license and are eligible for reimbursement under extended health plans that cover massage therapy.
Sessions are tailored to each person’s needs with an emphasis on comfort, gentle flow, and supporting the body’s natural healing processes. Many clients leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more at ease in their bodies.
Beginning January 2026, I’ll no longer be accepting new patients for general massage therapy so I can focus more fully on acupuncture, MLD, and CranioSacral Therapy.
Existing massage patients can continue booking as usual.
New patients are welcome for MLD, CST, and acupuncture.
